Calvin was interested in attending IUPUI because of the music technology program and the variety of opportunities that are available for students. “To me, being a Bepko Scholar means using my time at IUPUI and the resources it provides to learn more about what major social issues exist in the community and work to help combat them alongside my studies,” Calvin says. His goal is to increase access to basic necessities by volunteering at food banks in the area. Before he came to IUPUI, Calvin volunteered as a juror in the Reach for Youth’s teen court program and through a church assisting with their food bank and clothing drives. These experiences ignited his interest in helping others and made him enthusiastic about his opportunities as a Bepko Scholar. Calvin is working towards his career goal of becoming an independent music producer after he graduates.
